Game 1 Review: Royals 2 @ White Sox 4

There were some good things and some bad things that came out of this game.

1. BAD. The White Sox appear to have failed again finding a legitimate leadoff hitter. Dewaye Wise, not to be confused with Dewayne Wayne , went 0-4, failing to even get the ball in play 3 of those times. I have to give him some slack though. It is his first opening day and he was put in that position. I won't ever blame Wise for being a bad leadoff hitter, just like I don't blame George Bush for being a bad president, I blame the people or persons that put them in the position to fail. Don't worry about his stats though. Remember our World Series Championship in 2005? There weren't alot of "great" hitters on that team either. Pitching and timely hitting won it for us and that's still all that matters. Yes Wise went 0-4 but we won and that's all that matters.
2. GOOD. Thome looked great at the plate and I'm not being biased because he hit the game winning homer. He could have a huge year trying to prove the Sox should keep him around.
3. GOOD. Fields and Getz had huge games. One thing I look forward to every year in baseball is seeing how the youngsters produce and I have a good feeling that these two are good, if not great, everyday major leaguers.
4. GOOD. Bullpen threw 4 scoreless innings. Richard threw strikes.
5. BAD. Buehrle's control. Buehrle didn't seem to have awesome control but he didn't give up 9 runs in 2 innings like he did last year (or something along those lines). He kept his team in the game and we all know that his control will come around.
