I wasn't able to watch this game so I can't give the best feedback. John Danks had his second straight dominant start, picking up his first win this season. He pitched 6 innings only allowing 2 hits but allowing 4 walks. Not what you want to see but we got the W.
The White Sox bats continued to suck with runners in scoring position. The box score showed us 3-13. That is just pathetic. In some cases I heard it was with runners on third with less than 2 outs. Ozzie should start squeezing everyone in since the hitters can't do it on their own.
The White Sox offense had a perfect opportunity to put the Rays away in the 9th with the bases loaded and 1 out. Thome wiffed at 3 of the 4 pitches he saw, looking completely overmatched. Dye, who you can't really complain about because he has been killing lately, struckout next, stranding 3 runners on base.
Jenks came in to close the game out but had to make it interesting giving up a hit and walk and an error. The error was charged to Getz but there wasn't much he could do with it since it was such a bad hop. The Rays scored 1 run that inning and left the tying run on third and the winning run on second. Seems like choking was the theme for the offenses that game.
It was nice to see Getz back in the lineup after missing a few games with a sore elbow. Although an injurred Getz is probably still better than a healthy Lillibridge. The only reason that guy is on the roster is because of KW's trading ego. You can't give up a pitcher like Vazquez and not play any of the players you got in return (see Nick Masset). So far Kenny's offseason moves look terrible. Javier Vazquez has pitched twice, both quality starts, striking out 17 and allowing 10 hits in 12 innings. Lillibridge is garbage and Flowers is in AA. Nick Swisher is tearing it up for the Yankees. He's batting .406 with a .486 OBP, 4HR and 11RBI. Marquez has pitched two games, allowing 15 hits and 12 runs in 5 innings. Benemit hasn't really been played. Jhonny Nunez has pitched well for AA Birmingham Barons. He's pitched 7 innings allowing just 1ER. Hopefully at least he can pan out.
Next Up: Friday White Sox @ Rays 7pm EST Colon vs. Shields
Hopefully we get another good start from Colon. He's facing better hitters this time around so he has his work cut out for him.

Game 9: White Sox 0 @ Tigers 9
The White Sox got shutout for already the 2nd time this season on Wednesday. Jose Contreras pitched well for about 4 innings then seemed to lose his control, walking two in one inning then throwing, what should have been an outside corner pitch, right down the middle. Polanco crushed a double (that would have been a homer in any other park) that scored the first 2 of 9 runs for the Tigers.
The White Sox offense struggled against an impressive pitching performance by Armondo Galaraga, who has an ERA under 1 in two outings this year. I have to admit I like how Galaraga doesn't have overpowering stuff, but he mixes speeds and locations, and most importantly throws strikes.
The White Sox left runners on 3rd with less than two outs twice in the ballgame. They are batting .245 as a team in 2009 with 0-6 Wednesday with Runners in Scoring Position.
On a lighter note, the bullpen also sucked. (not sure if that is necessarily lighter). They cost the team 6 of the 9 runs, 2 of which were inherited runners. Richard actually recorded an out and MacDougal sucked as usual. I'm betting KW is only keeping him around hoping he will rebound so we can trade him. He even sucks in garbage time.
Next Up: White Sox @ Rays Thursday 7pm EST.
We were 2-15 including the playoffs last year in domes. Claustrophobia??

Game 7: White Sox 10 @ Tigers 6
This was one of the uggliest pitched games I've ever seen. Neither Zach Miner nor Gavin Floyd could find the mound. The White Sox offense would spot Floyd runs only to watch him give them back. Floyd's final line was 5IP 5H 6R 6ER 7BB 2So. He pitched great his first game and lost, pitched like crap his second game and won. Go figure.
The White Sox offense finally kicked in scoring 10 runs, including 4 home runs. Lillibridge continues to show everyone why he should be working the cash register at McDonalds. He came to the plate 6 times, got on base once and struck out 3 times. He is now 1/13 on the season. Pathetic.

Game 6: Twins 1 @ White Sox 6
The White Sox got another great start from a starting pitcher today, with Mark Buehrle pitching 6 1/3 innings only surrending 2 hits.
Clayton Richard continued to look bad on the mound by loading the bases with no outs in the ninth inning, almost blowing the game. Bobby Jenks came in and struckout Joe Crede then got Young to hit into a double play to end the game.
Mark Buehrle pitched deeper into the game than his last start but still only lasted 6 1/3 innings. Not the Mark Buehrle we are used to seeing pitch into the 7th, 8th or 9th innings. Those days are probably gone though as the team has tried to keep his pitch count down to help him last longer through the season.

Game 5: Twins 0 @ White Sox 8
This game helped me get over my anger from the previous night's game. We got great pitching and great hitting.
The White Sox got a much need and encouraging start from Bartolo Colon, who made his first appearance for the White Sox since leaving in 2003. Bartolo pitched 6 innings, didn't surrender a run and only allowed 5 base runners. He also picked up the first win for a White Sox starting pitcher.
MacDougal rebounded from his 8 pitch 8 ball outing the night before by pitching 2 scoreless innings with 3 strikeouts.
The lineup featured 4 bench players who combined to go 4 for 13 with 3 walks, 3 runs scored and 3 rbis.
MLB Note: Nick Swisher is tearing it up for the Yankees batting .538 with 2hrs and 9rbi. No, I don't miss him.

What a great game until Richard and MacDougal decided not to throw strikes anymore. There's nothing I hate more than a pitcher that doesn't throw strikes. The thing I hate second most is a pitcher that throws strikes and gets everyone of them hit, which is what Carrasco (who replaced MacDougal) did. Oh well, with 162 games to play you are going to get your butt handed to you every now and then.
On a bright now, Quentin hit his first homer.
Next Up Minnesota @ Chicago 3pm cst
